When you are purchasing anything, be it school/office supplies, clothes, or food, you should always have the environment in mind. Many companies now offer recycled/recyclable alternatives, making going green easier.
And when you go to the store to purchase whatever you need, make sure to bring your reusable bags. Reusable bags save plastic and are stronger than grocery bags, making them an obviously better choice. The reusable bag to the left can be purchased in the Loyola bookstore!
There are also several green school supplies that students can purchase for their classes! The bookstore sells notebook and printer paper that is made from sugar cane, biodegradable plastic folders, and paper products made from recycled paper.
Staff that order office supplies for their offices also often have access to recycled supplies and we encourage them to purchase those as opposed to supplies made from non-recycled materials. We are currently developing a set of purchasing guidelines for campus departments and plan to roll it out within the next week.
